I've been making art for as long as I can remember...
I'd sit doodling in my bedroom for many a happy hour when I was a young girl. I'm not sure that I have a first memory of anything in particular that I made, but I do know that I LOVED to make and draw,
in fact I just loved to create anything.
Through school I was always artistic, and went on to study Art and Design at college aged 16. Through this 'general' art course, I discovered the joys of print, paint, sculpture and life-drawing (figure drawing) amongst many other media. I struggled to pick a couple of areas to major in as I loved everything so much. eventually I went on to begin a Degree in Fashion Design.
During the first year of my course, I discovered that I was expecting my son, so I took a break from the course to concentrate on being a Mum and raising him.
My art went on the back burner for the next eight years.
It was eight years after having my son that I decided to take on another degree at university, this time in teaching. This led to a degree in Printmaking with Qualified Teacher Status and a job teaching in a local school where I stayed for 11 fantastic years.
In September 2013 I began a Masters Degree in Children's Book Illustration, set up Cultivate Art Collective and opened up MAKE Creative Studio! There's nothing quite like following your dreams.
I am happily married with another child, my Little Miss, and two grown up step-children.
I really appreciate you taking the time out to stop by my blog and allowing me to 'show and tell' for you.
